Ready or Not

So we had an eventful week last week. We went to the hospital for an ultrasound and biophysical profile. Jennifer did great and passed with flying colors, however the tech noticed some increased flow through the cord as well as increased amniotic fluid. As a result my doctor sent me to a specialist. The specialist determined there were no problems and the initial readings were wrong, well not only was that wrong, but her size was wrong too!!! This doctor has her weighing in at 7 lbs @ 35 and half weeks. So he says I need a c-section probably the 2nd-3rd week of June! WHAT? Oh my that is earlier than we were "planning"

I am full term on the 4th of June and that is when I go back for another measurement. I will see my regular doctor on the 3rd and get her take on all of this.

I have mixed emotions about it all. But my overall feeling is if it has tobe a c-section then let's do it soon (by soon I mean as soon as safely possible) cuz I just can't wait to hold my little girl.

Needless to say Simon was a building daddy this weekend putting together playpens, bouncing chairs, swings, and building a closet organzier for me - just to name a few things. I did about 8 loads of laundry and we feel like we are heading for the finish line - ready or not here she comes.

So I had the best most fabulous shower ever last weekend. It has taken me this long to post because I wanted to include some pictures and things have been just way hectic.

My in laws and two best friends threw me a shower here in Kingwood and it was just gorgeous. There were tons of people there and between both showers we got almost every item off our registry. I can't believe how generous people are. I was kind of nervous about it, but I ended up having so much fun. It was a little awkward having all those people stare at you while you opened gifts, but I got over it really fast :-).

I saw several people I have not seen in years which was also nice. Jennifer is all set to come into this world. Who knew a person that small needed that much stuff??? We spent this week trying to find a place to put it all.

A HUGE thanks to my hostesses who made me feel like queen for a day. All your hard work was definitely worth it and Simon, Jennifer, and I thank you from the bottom of our hearts.

Call the plumber there is a leak somewhere!

Without going into too much detail we had quite an interesting day yesterday. I noticed a leak and we thought Jennifer might be ready to make her appearance in the world, but not quite. Turns out I was leaking fluid; however only a small amount of amniotic fluid. So we were sent home with these test strips so if I notice a "leak" again I can test the fluid and make sure it is not my water. Since the amount of "water" was minimal the dr. was not concerned and since we already have an ultrasound scheduled next week to check my fluid levels she felt comfortable we were ok to return home.

It was kind of a scary experience, but we are all ok.

Update on Miss Jennifer and Me

We had a doctor appointment this week and everything is looking good. She scheduled a biophysical profile for my next visit. That is just a fancy way of saying an ultrasound that figures out how big Jennifer is and what her approximate weight is. She still has room to move around and is able to move from side to side and up and down so the dr. feels like she is still small (thank goodness I do not want a 10lb baby) so that is good- she just wants to verify that she is not too small and my fluid levels and some other stuff is ok. Other than that mom's health is perfect and besides a little weight gain (ok multiple pounds in one week) after our vacation everything is going great. We have one more set of every two week appointments and then we are going every week. That just means we are almost at the finish line. Less than 7 weeks to my due date and only 4 until I am considered Full Term. YAY.

We have life with baby class today........ can't wait to post about that one. Plus I have to find a dress for my shower. I can't believe I waited until the week before......I saw one I like at Motherhood so hopefully it is still there. If not, I will be in a panic.

And may those of you that are mothers have a wonderful mother's day this weekend. It is a very bittersweet weekend for me. It is my first mother's day without my mom and my first getting ready to be a mom..........

Well we are so excited that Miss Jennifer decided to show her face on Friday at the 3D/4D ultrasound. I really thought we might have to go back for a third time. I can't figure out how to post the video, but am putting up a slideshow of images.
