The Big Reveal

Well Christmas time is upon us and Simon and I are very excited because this is when we plan on telling his family. We originally planned on telling everyone at brunch on Christmas Day, but we had a small change of plans. We ended up telling everyone before Christmas Eve at dinner. It was fun! We did stockings with the girls (Rach and Sarah) and Josh along with my dad and brother. Then we gave everyone in the room a box wrapped up like a present (well it was a present) They opened the box and in it were shirts that said Aunt 2009 or Uncle 2009! Everyone was quite surprised........ However, the biggest surprise for the girls was that their parents kept the scret too! They could not comprehend that their parents had not told them already. They were quite shocked to learn that Annette and Alan had known since October that they were going to be grandparents.

I think everyone was excited to know there would be a new member of the Scott family come June.

Check out the video of everyone's reaction!

One Trimester Down- 2 to Go!

Our last dr. appointment before we tell the family about our little secret.

This dr. appointment was very nerve racking. The nurse came in tried the doppler again and was unsuccessful. Since we were at 13 weeks- we should hear the heartbeat by now. So she asked a second nurse to come in. The wait for the second nurst to come in was horrible. Simon was pale. I was nervous, but was pretty confident because I knew how sick I had been feeling.

The second nurse finally came in and tried for several minutes and finally we have it A HEARTBEAT. Simon jumped out of the chair high enough to dunk a basketball! Wow what an experience.... to hear this little heartbeat just a working and it is not your own. Simon began to high five the nurses and we could rest a little easier.

The dr. finally came in because she was doing a delivery- poor baby- Christmas birthday's stink! let me tell you. The dr. felt pretty confident that even though we had some problems at the beginning we were well on our way to being parents. She thought our "big reveal" should go off without a hitch. But she had even more news for us as well. Our next appointment would be in about 4 weeks, however if we pushed it back a couple of days we could have the anatomy ultrasound then and not have to wait even longer. Simon and I were all over that! So we were able to make our next appointment for Jan. 27th

I will update more in a bit, I have to return to work now!

Bad Blogger!

Ok I am horrible at taking time to write on my little blog- so I am going to try to catch everyone up very fast-

Dec. 8th - we had a dr. appointment and it was pretty uneventful. They still could not hear our shy little shrimp on the doppler so an on the belly ultrasound was required. When they couldn't hear anything on the doppler; that is when Simon and I both hold our breath until- YES there it is the little hear beating away at a 150 beats per minute. We have another appointment in two weeks, the week of Christmas right before the Big Reveal!

Between dr appointments- my days are spent exhausted and sick. I am usually sick all day- forget this morning sickness crap - it is sick in the morning - usually it starts about mid-morning and it stops when I go to sleep. Many nights leaves me just moaning about how crappy I feel. Poor Simon has not had a home cooked meal in weeks. Oh well- dad it is your fault i feel this miserable :-)

Christmas Shopping- well my dr. has me on limited activity until we get through the first trimester so that makes Christmas shopping extremely hard. Thank Goodness for the internet. For most of you if I could not order it online- you probably did not get it. The weekends I am able to get out a little more because I can rest when I am home.

Getting Closer

Well I said, I would update this if we went to the dr. appointment on the 24th.........well we went and I forgot to update........

All is well.

I threw up last nite- yuck. Poor simon tried to put my hair up, but we learned he needs a lesson in using a pony tail holder. Other than that the nausea has gotten a little better. Our last dr. appointment went ok. They tried to hear the heartbeat with a doppler (a special stethescope), but we were unable to so we did another ultrasound. This time they did it on top of my tummy rather than transvaginally. We could not see a thing as far as the baby goes, at least I could not. We could see the heart flickering on the screen so what a relief. Other than that all I could make out was a black blob with a flickering light in the middle. But the heartbeat is the most important thing. The doctor seemed very pleased and since she knows what she is looking at, then we took her word for it. We go back to visit on the 8th. She is seeing us every two weeks until we finish the first trimester- so hopefully it will be smooth sailing after that. We plan on telling Simon's family at Chrismtas which should be very fun. The only other excitement for the visit was the bill! We received the bill for delivery. Boy daddy was excited. (not) Baby's are expensive.
Until next time!

Raider Power

Well we just returned from my college roommate Robin's wedding in Lubbock. What fun. Simon and I were so happy we drove. A pregnant girl has to pee a lot and being able to stop whenever I needed it was great. The weekend went well and I was not too sick which is a good thing.

Tuesday we had a scare, as I passed a large amount of red blood and a few clots. My dr. wanted to see me immediately- boy was the wait intense. Simon picked me up from work and took me. The dr had to squeeze us in and the wait seemed to take forever. Simon tripped over a rug, knocked the bench in the office into the wall, and tripped over the scale. It made me laugh a little and lightened the mood a bit. Once the dr came in you could hear a pin drop! Then on the ultrasound screen we were soooo excited to see our little baby and it's heart was still beating. Further examination showed everything was progressing normally and there was no fluid or loose blood floating around. The dr ordered a few tests, but said sometimes things like that happen. They really are unexplainable. She prescribed bed rest, an abbreviated work week, and NO running errands, cooking dinner, etc. At least for the next few weeks. We were so happy to know everything was ok. It took a bit for the "no cooking" order to sink in and Simon realized it was his turn to cook, Indefinitely.

WHO KNEW YOU COULD ACTUALLY BE THIS SICK? I have been nothing but nauseated for the past 3 days straight. Just when I start feeling human again. It kicks back into high gear. Simon tries to pretend he is sympathetic, but I can see him secretly smiling. He figures if I am sick that is always a good sign that things are progressing normally. Before our scare this week we already had an appointment scheduled next week, I don't know if we will keep it or not, because our next appointment is Dec. 8th. Either way, I will try to post something so we have a decent record of this secret first trimester.

Pitter Patter

The ultrasound was today!

What a long experience, but well worth every second of it...... They tell you to drink 16-32 oz of water, but then they leave you sitting in the waiting room so long you have to keep going to bathroom and then you start over drinking water again........ it was a vicious circle! BUT to the good stuff...........

Simon was able to come with me and they took several pictures of our baby- it was just a little bean, but it was OUR little bean. And then we looked at the screen and there was this little flickering light moving so fast - the tech informed us that was the heartbeat- what a relief everything looked ok. We even got to hear it. The little bean was beating at a 150 beats per minute. Of course, Dad believes it is his best work yet. It was really exciting watching his face light up when looking at the screen, although I thought we were going to have a friends moment because I had a hard time locating anything. (you know what I am talking about when Ross and Rachel go to the dr. and Rachel is unable to see the baby) he he.

The radiologist came in and said everything looked great and normal. That my next ultrasound would be at 18 weeks and that is when they will be able to determine the sex......... That perked Simon up right away...... They told us how far along we were and gave us a due date- The due date they gave us gave me quite a chill- but leads me to believe our little angel has his or her own angel watching over. June 27, 2009 is the expected date and if you don't know that is the day my mom left us this year. It is my firm belief that my mom has played a large part in this - and rather than be so sad because of her passing - celebrating a new life is what she has planned.
I have been sicker than a dog and feel nauseated about 50% of the day, but it just reminds me that things are going well.

Dr. Dr. Tell Us the News

Our first dr. visit was pretty routine. We went in earlier than most just to be as safe as possible with this pregnancy. They determined we were about 5 weeks along- so would have to go to the hospital the following week for an ultrasound to determine viability. Dr. said everything looked fine, she examined me and said so far so good. She determined until December she wanted to see me on avg of every 2.5 weeks. We scheudled the ultrasound and were off.........

It All Starts Here

Simon was not feeling well- a little too much fun at the Texans game, but little did he know he was going to get the shock of his life that afternoon. With my period missing in action I headed for the bathroom when we returned home from work. Fully expecting to be disappointed and thinking I miscalculated- you could not believe my surprise when the YES sign began to flash. I screamed bloody shrill sound and ran through the house- only to bump into Simon running towards me............... We are going to be parents I exclaimed loudly. With his mouth full of pizza and a slice in his hand - the blood drained from his face and said- ?WHAT? I said look doesn't it say yes? He reviews the stick and says uh huh- so what does that mean. We're pregnant- I said! He hugs me, then puts his pizza down (he said he suddenly lost his appetite) and we celebrated!

Hello and Welcome

So I figured I would start this journal so you could all keep up with what is going on with our pregnancy. Especially since we are waiting until the end of the first trimester to tell everyone- I figured you could come back and see what we went through during those secret weeks.
