Nipple to Nose- Another Initiation Rite

Well we are full steam ahead in this final stretch of pregnancy. We had our first class this weekend- Breastfeeding Basics and Beyond. It was a little overwhelming yet very informative. You gotta love a class when the first words the teacher says are "Hi, please sign in grab a baby and a boob" I thought I was going to have to pick Simon's laughing self up off the floor. We were the first to arrive. The next two ladies came without a support person and Simon was eyeing me intensely with a look of- Ahem do I really have to be here followed with a I will hurt you if I am the only guy. But most other women brought their husbands as husbands are encouraged to attend. We had to hold back laughter at many points.

I took the breastfeeding class first because honestly I am pretty nervous about it. Secondly, I wanted to make sure I registered for the right things as far as feeding my baby girl go. Lastly, you have to start somewhere- right? They went over everything from cream, to bottles, to cleaners, to pumps, to pillows. When I asked Simon if he learned anything he said - Nipple to Nose which is obviously the techinique for proper latching- but I found it hilarious. He is a great sport and will be a great dad!

Nursery Update- the painting is pretty much complete so we started putting the furniture up. Look for the big nursery reveal (Move that Bus) soon.

There are so many things going on right now I will try to keep everyone as updated as possible. I have a dr. appointment Thursday (we go every 2 weeks now) and Jenni's Pictorial Debut is this weekend the 3D/4D ultrasound- I CAN'T WAIT!

Hope all is well with everyone.

We Passed!

I am excited to report that we passed the glucose screening!!! Yippee! I was quite nervous about that. So NO Gestational Diabetes for me!!!

The hand doctor was unable to do anything they just said I have to deal with it until I deliver.

Our nursery is coming along great! I have been taking pictures of the progress and will post them all when everything is done.

Testing, Testing

Today I went for my doctor's appointment. I had to have my glucose screening (for gestational diabetes) I was very nervous as I am high risk for the disease. I got the fruit punch drink so it was not as bad as I was expecting. Everyone told me I would have to drink some nasty orange stuff, but this new stuff was just like Hawaiian Punch. You have five minutes to drink it (tasted like pure sugar)and then an hour later they test your blood. I get the results on Monday, if I fail then I go in for a 3 hour screening. The drink has made me feel kinda yucky. I also got a pap smear to check for any issues and to run a gagillion tests. She also checked to make sure I was not dilating or anything else weird. I now start my appointments every two weeks. My dr. also gave me a referral to a hand specialist because I am having such problems. I will update more once I find out if they can do anything.

In other news, my dad is here painting the nursery. I am not sure about one of the colors I picked out, but the rest look great! AND my furniture arrived. So we are making progress on the nursery!

I start my third trimester tomorrow! YEAH WE ARE 2/3 of the way done!

Initiation Rite # 3- FURNITURE

So I have had my eye on a set of furniture since January. When I first saw it the set the was on sale. Unfortunately we did not buy it at the sale price and it went back up to full price. We had come to the conclusion that we should not have procrastinated and made the decision to purchase early next month. Well I would check daily to see if it went back on sale- WELL TODAY WAS MY LUCKY DAY!!! It went back to down in price significantly and we scooped it up. It should be here in a week or so and I will post better pictures once we receive and put it together, but for now I am so uneblieveably excited that my little girl's nursery furniture is ordered. We are making great progress on her room. My dad will be here to paint next week.

We ordered a crib, changing table, and dresser. I included a pic of the crib I found. The changing table has the same scroll design at the top and the dresser has it at the bottom. Just perfect for my little ladybug!

We are at 24 Weeks today a HUGE MILESTONE. Little Jennifer has reached viability, meaning she could survive outside of Hotel Mom if some sort of emergency happens. It is just another one of those breath a sigh of relief moments. Although she still has a lot of baking time left to go.

I am starting to get very excited and can't wait to meet this little one. She is a very active baby (she gets that from her father) constantly moving around in there.

Well today is definitely a milestone for us and we just had to share.
